My firewall is using 1 to 1 NAT; and I have serveral pubic ip addresses that are being mapped to internal ip addresses. With Windows 2000 DNS, when I setup the Primary zone, it will use the private ip address of the server that it is sitting on (172.22.18.2), however those trying to get to my DNS server from the internet will use a public Ip address (21.172.22.x). Should the IP address in the name server host record be the public or private ip address ? Again keep in mind that i am doing 1 to 1nat at the firewall and my dns servers are behind the firewall.
