DNS & Gateway settings for nodes
We have a network of Win2K3 server and 8 nodes connected through a switch. Server
acts as DC,DNS with AD. DHCP disabled. All nodes have static IPs. DNS & Gateway settings on all nodes are the IP of the server.
Internet access is through DSL line connected to second NIC on server. Net access is through a Proxy server running on the win2K3 server.
We wish to add Linksys router + firewall which will connect between modem and switch. WAN side connection - DSL modem to router is fairly simple.
On the LAN side, we have provided a static IP to the router in the same range as Win2K3 server and nodes. DNS for the internal domain is running on the server which is hosting an accounting application also.
What should be the DNS and Gateway settings on the nodes, server and router.
The nodes need have to access the server for applications and file / print sharing and also need access to the internet.
Thanks and regards,
Tanmay.
