      In reply to DNS issues

In XP, go into the Local Area Connection for your Network Adapter. Right-click, go to properties, and go into TCP/IP properties. Make sure your Server is specified in the Primary DNS field. Then, click on Advanced, DNS tab, click on ‘append the following suffixes in order’, click Add, and add the suffix for your domain, for example, yahoo.com. After that, go into Start, Run, type CMD to get a command prompt. Then type IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS. Then try to ping your server by name, and you should be able then to add the XP machine to the domain, reboot, and log into the domain.
