DNS memory lapse

By McKayTech ·
I have an DNS server (BIND on NT) that will not resolve host names for a particular domain. The really weird part is that it's a Primary server and the Secondary server has the correct information.

My knowledge of DNS/BIND is very limited so I would very grateful if someone could point me in the right direction to start to identify the problem.

regards!

paul

DNS memory lapse

The best and only available tool to validate DNS problems is "nslookup".

Use the following command sequence :

>nslookup
> Server yournewserverip
( It time outs check the dns service)

> ls -d yournewdomain.com
( should list all the records for the domain)
( if dosent try with other domains like
ls -d otherdomain.com)

The only sugestions i have is recreate the
new zone again.
Hope this helps
Thanks
sharan

I found some other tools, including one called DNS Expert, that do a pretty good job of analyzing the DNS setup to identify improper delegations, etc.

That's where I found the problem.
