dns problem

i configured dns server in my office and i set it as my primary dns in all systems and i set the isp provider dns as secondary, but when i do this iam not able to browse ie the secondary dns entry is not working. what shall i do for this

Set the ISP provider as a dns forwarder in the primary DNS server. That should do the trick. When an unknow DNS name occures, the primary dns will forward the request. With a secondary dns zone, its mostly there to replicate to and from.

You can also try using the public DNS servers of and and see if it works.

i agree as the secondery DNS option is used in case the primary DNS could not be found on the local network...

User the DNS forwarders as said in the first answer,,,

You also need to set the ISP DNS address as the Gateway, not only the secondary DNS.

We use a router to access the Internet, and the routers address is both the Gateway and Secondary DNS, otherwise it does not work.
