dns question

By dane ·
I have a dns server installed on my windows 2000 server computer. This server is setup to have a small webpage, and a shoutcast MP3 server. I sometimes surf around on it, and wanted to know what should I put for my tcp/ip settings? I wanted to put 127.0.0.1 for the dns server, but get this error:

Ip addresses starting with 127 are not valid because they are reserved for loopback addresses. Please specify some other value between 1 and 223.

What can I do? I use earthlink for dialup access.

I want to use my own dns server, because I noticed about a 30-45 second difference for a request.

What can I do?

Thanx.

Use 192.x.x.x if this is an internal network. You're going to need a proxy server to keep your network separate from the Internet.

How do I add these ip addresses so windows 2000 will recgonize them?

192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255

I tried the above, but it couldnt find the server. I am using Simple DNS Plus, www.jhsoft.com

The above server has a option where you can choose a primary ip address. The only one I can choose are 127.0.0.1 What can I do?
