DNS question

By Cong ·
I'm running win nt 4.0 sp6 with dns intalled.
is it possible to set alias for internal ip to external ip address. Like if my internal ip is 192.168.1.1 and I need to set it as an alias of 211.10.10.1. Is that possible to do dns without register name.

DNS question

Well, yes and no. But this sounds suspiciously like you are trying to get around somehow registering a domain name and getting a valid IP address. You can put whatever you want to on your own internal DNS server, but it doesn't mean anything and won't connect you to anything unless the name and IP address are registered properly and the authoritative DNS server for the domain adds the records to its name server(s). What exactly are you trying to do?
