DNS Resource Usage

By jlbpotter ·
Is Windows 2000 DNS much of a resource hog? I have a 2000 server that runs DHCP and WINS and one application and was considering putting DNS on it also. I am unsure how much resources that DNS requires from the system. Thanks in advance.

No, it is not a resource hog at all, unless you are running a huge DNS database such as a domain root server for a large domain or multiple large domains. It is quite normal for most small to medium-sized networks to run WINS, DNS and DHCP on the same server. Hope this helps!
