DNS server not found

By jrobison ·
I'm working with an inherited network in a small HS.
The one server (win20000) keeps comming up with DNS server not available as a log-on error on the server. I look and the service is running. I've done a work-around by putting the ISP's DNS server IP address on the local machines, but where should I look for the server configuration problem?

Try doing a reverse DNS lookup

This should letcha know whats up.
Also, are you forwarding to root hints...all the normal dns stuff?

This is a tech. problem, in search of a solution.

It properly belongs in "Technical Q&A," not in "Discussions."

Please re-post there.

Thank you.
