DNS Slow

i just setup dns at my house and for some reason when i plug the clients to the network, they get real slow. Resolving of names takes a long time. as soon as i take the cable off, the client, it goes back to its regular speed. any ideas?

Is your DNS server set up for forwarding? This will relieve the local DNS server from having to do all the work, only forward the request to another DNS (your isp's).

actually i am not hooked up to the internet yet, its internally only. By the way i have another NIC with another network address on that same computer and that one works fine. its like if this other one, has a lot of traffic for some reason, becausei can see the hub light going crazy even when no computers are connected to the hub, just the server. any ideas?
