DNS With Active Directory Problem

I have installed Win2000 Server and promoted it to Domain controller.While installing I also installed DNS. I would like to remove DNS now but on doing so, domain controller stops authenticating the users and stops sync with other DCs. At the same time if I try to add a new DC it will never become a DC untill I install DNS on it. Does any one know how to remove DNS form the DC and still work smoothly??
