Do Microsoft exams have a grace period after retirement?

It has come to my attention that exams for the MCITP EA/SA are going to be retired on July 31st, 2013. I have also heard that Microsoft exams have a 6 months grace period after the retirement date in which the exams can still be done and that the exams do not truly retire on that exact date.
I posted this same question in Q&A section and got a reply that there is a grace period but the person wasn't exactly sure how long it lasted.
The reason I'm asking is that I wanted to start self-study for the MCITP EA, and then SA eventually, this Sept. so that I will have a clear upgrade path to the new MCSA/MCSE certs, instead of waiting until next year to start fresh with the new courses. It would also give me 2 credentials and an advantage for employment. With the 4 remainding months of this year(from Sept.) + 7 months up to July 2013 + 6 months grace period =17 months to finish MCITP EA/SA, which I think is enough time.
Could anyone who has done a MS exam during this grace period or who is positive that it exists and how long it lasts for please reply ASAP.
