Do You Know These Symtoms?

By dknichol ·
As an adninistator; my account is running much slower than general user accounts. I have had attacks that are attempting to re-establish domain. "AVG Free" is running uptodate and passes a front/open virus approach.
At present: have had to delete two accounts. First account was successful; second account is NOT - this is the account that has hosted all the viral attempts.
@ Current; this is a "stand alone" machine and is un-networked.

This current TR Blog may be useful to you

But if you want to stay within your current OS you can also try Malware Bytes

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol&cdlPid=10878968

and Crap Cleaner which will not hurt

http://www.mrbass.org/freeware/crapcleaner/

Install things like Spy Bot S&amp and Malware Bytes and update as required then reboot your Windows System in Safe Mode and scan the system.

I also like to scan with Rescue Cd's as well but you'll need a clean system to make them.

AVG alone is not enough

by MrPhileep In reply to Do You Know These Symtoms ...

AVG is a good starting base, but you need anti malware software to do a better job. Never rely on one piece of anti crap software.
Another thing to do prior to anything else is to create a bootable recovery disk.
Im trying to think of one off hand, ahh
Ultimate Boot CD here www.ubcd4win.com or another is Hirens Boot CD here www.hiren.info
These are worth updating every soo often and leave standing on the shelf. These allow you to boot from disk freeing up the hard drive so a thorough clean is possible without the virus/malware being present in memory.
