There are many reports of unsecure “smart” devices, where the OS is embedded and there are no security updates. So it depends on the device.
Do you think your privacy is protected if your security camera stores its data on some server in China? I have my doubts. And I just read reports of people finding Google still has data on the Youtube videos they visited in 2011. Do you call that privacy?

I think security today is a mixed bag. Some systems are pretty solid, but there are still plenty of vulnerabilities out there. It’s all about staying updated and being proactive. A strong password and two-factor authentication can go a long way, but I also feel like companies need to do better with their data protection.

While the security measures used today have advanced significantly, the constantly evolving nature of cyber threats means there’s always room for improvement. It’s crucial for professionals to stay updated on the latest technologies and best practices.

The Evolving Landscape of Cybersecurity: Is Current Protection Enough?
by cybercertificationscomau · about 3 months, 1 week ago
In reply to Do you think that the security used today is sufficient?
While today’s security measures have improved significantly, they may not be sufficient to combat the evolving landscape of cyber threats. Cybercriminals continuously adapt their tactics, and many organizations still lack the necessary resources and training to stay ahead. Additionally, reliance on outdated systems and weak passwords can create vulnerabilities. It’s essential for businesses and individuals to adopt a proactive approach, including regular security assessments, employee training, and investing in advanced technologies to enhance their defenses. Continuous vigilance and adaptation are key to effective cybersecurity in today’s digital world.

While cybersecurity has advanced

In reply to The Evolving Landscape of Cybersecurity: Is Current Protection Enough?
While cybersecurity has advanced, it’s not always enough to counter the rapid evolution of cyber threats. Hackers continuously refine their tactics, and many organizations still face gaps due to outdated systems, weak passwords, or a lack of training and resources. To stay protected, businesses and individuals need a proactive approach—regular security audits, employee training, and investment in cutting-edge technologies. In short, adapting to new threats and maintaining continuous vigilance are essential for effective cybersecurity in today’s digital age.

Security also depends on YOU. For example, read https://www.zdnet.com/article/hackers-are-targeting-billions-of-gmail-users-with-a-realistic-ai-scam-how-you-can-stay-safe . After you do what they ask you, your mail is very unsafe.

No, it is not sufficient

Security in general is a constantly evolving field. What may seem sufficient today could be inadequate tomorrow, especially in areas like cybersecurity and cryptography, where threats adapt quickly.

I think that it depends on the situation and how often you change the passwords and other stuff because if you change it somewhat regularly you should be fine.

Modern devices have good security features
by albertrose539 · about 1 month ago
In reply to Do you think that the security used today is sufficient?
Modern devices have good security features like encryption, firewalls, and regular updates to protect our data and privacy. However, no system is perfect, and hackers or weak passwords can still be a risk. While these features help a lot, staying safe also depends on how we use our devices—like avoiding suspicious links, using strong passwords, and keeping software updated. So, device security is strong, but we need to do our part too!

Any device no matter what it is is only as secure as the person using it . The number of times I have seen people cancel updates and patches on both OS and Software because it is inconvenient or they heard a story that after applying a patch once upon a time the computers stopped working so it’s not worth the risk of applying them the systems stopped working.
The reality however is in most cases while those things do happen is that it is the user who clicks on links without looking and just has to see those naked pictures of whomever or there was a banner add that caught their attention and they just clicked on the links without thinking.
