Do you use original brands or not?

When it comes to electronics brands, in how far do you guys use the original accessories (chargers, headphones, etc)? I got an iPad & MacBook, and I only purchase original Apple accessories, but my friends are always telling me off that I pay too much for those. How do you go about it?

Since it's Apple

the price is certainly in the high end, but the quality likely is too.
I believe there are brands that have better quality/price ratios, but finding them is always a bit tricky, and the better ratio doesn't guarantee better quality, and then there's the color scheme mismatch... gotta press an ear to the rail, so to speak, make an informed decision and not be afraid to stick by it, even if it means facing "fanboy" charges.

If the quality is there

the brand is unimportant except as an indicator of further support. For example, some of the biggest names in speaker from the 70s and 80s are Klipsch, Bose, Advent, Acoustic Research, and Altec-Lansing. I've had a pair of Kenwood speakers as my primaries for almost 30 years. My reason for buying them? In side-by-side tests, playing the 1812 Overture, they provided infinitely better sound (to me) than speakers from the big name brands, and at a much lower price.

If it relates to my Mac

by Tigger_Two In reply to Do you use original brand ...

I buy Apple when it makes sense.. Since I actually prefer the Apple earbuds, I never bought after-market. I don't like the wireless mouse and keyboard that shipped with my iMac so I bought a wired Apple keyboard (I like the "key feel") and I'm currently using a Logitec scroll wheel mouse- having tried the wired Mighty Mouse and killed it. I see mice as disposable items.

My router is Netgear and my external drive is Western Digital. I also have a mini Seagate for travel.

I think that the bottom line is what you prefer. If it makes sense to buy Apple, do it.
