Document Recovery will not go away

By nclissold ·
I am using Office Xp on a terminal server and whilst using Word Xp it crashed. So i closed Word Xp and reopened it and recovered the document. Now every second time anyone on the terminal server opens word the document recovery pane appears with this document there. This is very annoying. I have deleted all the
associated *.asd files but the file keeps on appearing. When you hold the
cursor over the recovered document it says that it is the original
document!!!! Please help as this is very annoying

Look at the Files of Type box on the Open Dialog and make sure Recover text from any file is not selected.
Delete any tmp files Word leaves behind. They start with a tilde "~".
Rename/delete any Normal.dot files. There should be only one.
Delete Word/Data in the registry

The actions above are those normally taken to clean up Word "confusions".
Word will re-create a normal dot when it starts up. Since a Normal.dot s/b copied to each user?s home directory, maybe they need to be replaced.
The Word/Data key will also be regenerated.
I can?t give you any specifics in the case of a Terminal server, but you might try some of the suggestions.

There is more than 1 normal.dot template file on the server as word copies it to each users directory upon being run on a terminal server

The best idea would be to recreate the norm,al.dot template as that should fix the problem

I deleted all the normal.dot files thus forcing word to recreate them but this did not solve the problem.

To fix this i create a document that crashed word and placed this in the exact place as the document in the recovery pane. opened the document from the pane, this crashes word, close word. reopen word then closed the document recovery pane. so far word has nopt come back up with that document in the document recovery pane
