Does Anyone Know How to Customise the Insertion Point?

By plandok ·
For many years since Win 386, I've used a pale canary background instead of white for Word and Excel documents to improve eyestrain. But this choice renders the insertion point a pale grey. When MS used to provide free support calls, I asked the question which the tech assured me was possible. He called back in a couple of hours and sheepishly told me it was the one item which was hard coded into the colors and could not be changed.

Despite MS advances in accessibility, the insertion point issue has not changed and now I have a long 21" monitor and high resolution, the issue has again arisen. I did find a small piece of freeware but it changed the insertion mark to a bold safety vest orange. This was too distracting. Just for clarification, I am not referring to the cursor as I am not interested in bananas or suchlike.

If anyone knows of or has found a way to customise the insertion point color and thickness, I would be very interested in knowing. I am now struggling with all the changes from XP to Win 7 and even small changes require new understanding.

Thanking you in advance
