Does anyone know what blacklistUI.exe is?

By tailee ·
I noticed that there is a blacklistUI.exe icon showing in the C drive. I am not sure what this is. I have googled and can not seem to find any good information on it. In the properties it show the company as TODO. I would like to know if this is a malicious software or is it legitimate. It is on our computer teachers computer and they no longer work here. I am cleaning it up for a new teacher. Hopefully someone can give me a clue to what this is.

I would guess

that it is a User Interface for manipulating or adding blacklists (lists of IP addresses or domains blocked from being accessed from the computer or network).

Is it possible that the teacher wrote the app himself?

Is there a corresponding entry in, say, the programs menu for an application of which this is a part?

Further, have you tried running it? Disconnect the computer from the network and try it. If it is malware, the machine is already infected, so no reason not to check.

Thank you

Thank you for your response. I tried running the application. All it brought up was a blank window with a OK button. HMM!
I also do not see that there is a corresponding entry for a app that it is a part of.
No, sorry to say but it is not possible that this teacher wrote this app.
Thank you so much.

If there is no blacklist file(s) available on the machine, this little executable won't show anything in the window.

I'd just delete the exe, and run a light registry cleaner (like CCleaner) in case there are any registry references that you might want cleared up. But i wouldn't actually expect any entries for this type of little program.

Thank you again

Thank you for your assistance. It is greatly appreciated. Is this program something I should be concerned about it or is it harmless? So, just remove it move on? What would it be black listing? Any suggestions?

It's a wireless USB driver.

The BlackListUI.exe that I have in (also in the root of C:) has a certificate from Wisair Ltd, a wireless USB device manufacturer. I have an Ultra wireless USB device, so I searched through the registry I found references that linked the driver and the program. They should be shot for putting it in the root, but that's a battle for another day.
