Does anyone remember Sliders?

Locked

by purpleskys ·

Global TV carried it up here for the first 4 seasons then dropped it or messed around with the time slots so bad that I never did catch the last season. I think I may make it a goal of mine, to find a way to get all five season on DVD. 🙂 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sliders

For me the most unbelievable part of the whole show was in the pilot episode. Who could really believe that the Chicago Cubs could win the World Series? 😉

It was an amazing series

In reply to Does anyone remember Sliders?

But like any good series, “Executives” wanted to change it to make more money. They sacrificed the premise and story line for money and f*cked it up.

The last season was lame (I thought) Enough for me to not see it through to the end.

At least, I remember the first two years fondly.

I thought the writing went down hill radically beginning with the third season. I stopped watching entirely when they dumped Jonathon Rhys-Davies later that year. I didn’t know they’d done fourth and fifth seasons, and probably wouldn’t have cared.

If I were you, I’d buy the first two seasons. Rent the rest first and decide if they’re worth it.

yeah…although i did catch some of the forth season, i don’t recall the final season at all.

I thought Jerry O’Connell was awesome in this show as was Jonathon ( i always like just about anything he was in just for his voice 😉 ).

I went from one contract job to another 4 days after the last one ended. (Hooray!) Been getting to know the ropes at the new co. and doing a lot of deskside running around, barely at my desk for TR recreation. But thanks for missing me, I missed ya’ll too!

try watching a movie or TV show when you know exactly where the scene’s were filmed.
ruins the presentation. :\

kind of hard to believe it’s where the story says that way.

tends to be oysters.
raw
from shell to tummy.

~shudder~
I don’t do seafood in general, shellfish in particular are a no go.
raw shellfish, not going there.

I don’t do any raw shellfish.

I have tried raw tuna in sushi and that was good, but I can’t work up the courage to try other fish/shellfish raw.

Clam belly’s are a no go as well. EVERY one I try has a pound of sand in it. Y U C K

My dad was from an area where adventurous eating was the norm. I’m happy to say he left me with the spirit to try all kinds of foods at least once. Some of my happiest times with him involved slurping raw oysters with a little cocktail sauce on top of them. I still enjoy them.

For those who don’t know, or care to know, experientially, it’s a bit like eating soft-boiled egg, with a slight metallic aftertaste.

In reply to Pftt, started eating those as a kid

I try foods, twice, before saying, nope, not for me.
I just don’t like most seafood, and no shellfish at all are appreciated.

by juanita marquez ·

In reply to well

I have the same philosophy. Many people I know will not try anything simply for the fact that it looks ew or they imagine it can’t be any good. Also, it is possible that you had a bad batch/chef preparing the first round, so I always try to give food, as well as people, more than one chance to impress me.

And, of course, all the ‘neighborhood restaurant’ chains are offering them as well.

That’s another thing I didn’t do this trip to L’ville. I didn’t make it to either Graeter’s OR White Castle.

Alternate universes, then about how much fun watching a custard set is.

Never watched it, never will, bad science and unoriginal fantasy.

First couple three seasons were amusing, at least a bit. Never cared for the later seasons with the Neanderthal or Cro Magnon human antagonists, though.

(shudder) adding a baby, going to Disneyland or having everyone in the science office/neighborhood ALL move to the same apartment building coincidentally.

Adding a baby, or cousin, or whatever – this is a trope that irks me. (Scrappy doo?)

Jumping the couch

by juanita marquez ·

In reply to Adding a baby?

My SO has proposed a new category for an actor’s career having left the building: Jumping the couch, a la Tom Cruise. It is defined as the moment the public knows a person’s career has tanked because of behavior that is batsh**t crazy.

See also: Mel Gibson. Use in a sentence: “If Mel Gibson hadn’t been caught on his girlfriend’s voicemail, his career may not have officially jumped the couch.”

• #2851907

Win.

by seanferd ·

In reply to Jumping the couch

“Jumping the couch” – works for me. Especially since the definition includes the descriptive and appropriate use of “batsh**t crazy”. The example certainly fits the description of cranky and batsh**t crazy.

It was a great show, as usual dropped from the network. Why do they always take the good shows off anyway?
