Does not show up in network neighborhood

Hi,
I have windows nt4.0 environment.
I have a site where the computer vpn's into the main computer in another(main) location. When I check Network neighborhood at the main location the computer is not there but when I do a search on the computer I'm able to find it.. Is there a reason that it does not show up in the network neighborhood? The only way I could find it is by doing a search. Any help would be appreciated.

Try entering the IP address of that computer with its name into your 'hosts' file, and see if that shows up with your next connection.

Well, browsing over any type of remote connection is problematic. If the connection isn't high speed, it might take a long time for the machine to show up in Network Neighborhood. Even if it is high speed, it would probably take at least 15-20 minutes before it would show up. Also, depending upon the OS and configuration of the machine, it might never show up. If its a Win9x, Me or Win2K/XP machine, it will never show up in Network Neighborhood unless File and Printer sharing is turned on.If it's an NT workstation, then it won't show up unless it has actually joined the domain. So, there are a few things to check and be aware of. Hope this helps!
