INSTALLING XP ON A WD80 GIG 8MB cache Hard drive.
I have a COMPAQ 5868, It came with WIN98 on a 20GIG hard drive. Now I bought an WD 80 Gig Hard drive. It took me to run WD Diagnostics and write zeros to it before I installed WinXP on it seemed to go fine. But during bootup in the WinXP black screen with the blue progression bar it will lock up in that process. I thought maybe its the bios, but bios recognises it, and I do not find an update for the bios (aka compaq site). Thanks for support in advance. Greg
