Does use of cisco switch speed the network?

By Muhammad Mahdi ·

Someone encountered a problem and asked me. I am not very sure so I here goes..

"I was told that Cisco fast Ethernet switch can help in speed up the system performance as the requests will be processed by the switch and not by the domain as is being done right now. We need to put this into consideration for the better performance in future as days goes on data size keep on increasing. In order to have bright performance speed."

I don't think this is true. Is it? Does it justify purchase of a $1000 dollar switch?
Stats and figures will be appreciated if possible.

IF there is not much traffic then yes it will speed up the data network, if you have a lot of traffic the the answer will be no, it all depends on how your network is setup, what you have attached to how much traffic you have at any given time. If there are any trail options for this "$1000 dollar switch" then give it a go. but do not hold your breath.
Fast networks consist of fast servers with fibre cable but are very expensive unless you have deep pockets.
