I am trying to connect a Nokia 7110 to a Windows ME Laptop, The modem driver needs to be pointed at a Virtual IR port. The problem is as follows, on some laptops e.g a Dell and a Toshiba a virtual IR port is shown under Ports in Device manager, on other machines (an Acer and a Gericom) this does not show. A “Fast IR Device” or “Serial IR Device” is shown in Network adapters. Why does this happen and how can I change it ?
