I need to know how to go in to windows 2000XP and turn the vga monitor back on I went in it and turn it off lokking for the TVout which I never found for I could not play protected DVD,s it would say it cannot play it with the tv out open and I went in and turned off the vga thinking that might be it and the screen goes to black after I boot up and I cannot see how to go back in and turn it on again, I don,t see how they could may a program that would turn off monitor and you can not see anything or how to go to system restore which would fix it? Is ther another way to hookup a monitor so I can see how to go fix it? thanks for any input? I do not want to reformat my hard drive either, and don,t have the windows disc either that comes witht the machine, but do have others for other machines. Dogwood

Haven't done it on a laptop and I bet those electronics are REAL fragile, but if you have to, find the backup battery and remove it, or as a last resort if you can't remove it, short it out. Don't say you heard it here. I hope someones got a less dangerous solution.

Use Safe Mode

by NickNielsen In reply to dogwoods1

Turn the PC off, then restart it. As soon as the POST completes, press and hold <F8>. You will see a menu that offers various ways to start WinXP. Select Safe Mode and when it finishes booting, you should have video and be able to turn the vga monirot back on.

Boot back into safe mode and try reloading the drivers.
