Domain and PDC

Server running NT4. Created a domain,created user accounts, but 20 student workstations cannot find domain controller, when trying to add the domain in the Identification changes menu, get the message: Cannot locate the controller for this domain.”Never really configured a domain before, sort of designated the NET TECH for our office. Could really use a step-by-step guide for configuring a network: On workstations do this…on server do this…etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Onlyreference I have is the MCSE study guide for NT.
