domain computer, no access from DC

By 5jgibbs ·
When i am logged into my DC as Administrator, im not able to
access the computer \\downstairs.. the DNS is correct, and i get
the same problem with an IP.. it says i dont have appropriate
permission.. or whatnot.. anyway.. then it also says at the
bottom of the message

The account is not authorised to log in from this station

this is the DC.. geesh.. no matter what user i am on the DC is
the same thing.. but from my regular computer.. it work just fine

i have kicked and joint the computer to and from the domain.. i
did have a diffrent domain name before this started..

anyway.. i have no idea.. and suggestions would be great

I would check the local machine policy to see if there is anything out of sorts in there.

It's possible that the "allow access from network" is linited to only local accounts. Verify that all of the User Rights and Assignments are correct.

Good Luck

The error message you get is sugesting that you are trying to log on a computer which is part of another domain. That means, somehow, in your registry on the DC, the SAM of your computer didn't changed when you made the change of your domain name. Best practice: make the computer "downstairs" part of a Workgroup. Re-join the computer to the new domain.
I am ready to bet the whole points you give for this problem that you just simply erased the computer from your AD tree, and rejoined it to the domain.
