I have upgraded a NT 4 bdc to W2K server, then promoted to primary controller. When doing the upgrade was forced to call domain name VGEI.com instead of old domain name VGEI. Since the installation, users are able to log on however it takes approx2 minutes to log on after credentials have been entered. Also I am unable to add global users to local client computer groups. Any suggestions?

In your advaced tab--> networking--> select to register automaticly with DNS server. Win2k likes all that extra MS-DNS stuff. It builds dimanicly in order to perform non-netbios & wins as it says it could, especialy if you were migrating as upgrade. good luck. save your self time by building MS evironments from scratch.

Do you still have an NT domain controller?

Windows 2000 uses DNS to find other computers which is why you were forced to put the .com extension in your domain name. If you are having problems connecting check your DNS settings.
