Registration of domain

by aries13 In reply to domain registration

First of all research the market for server hardware. Although I'd prefer HP, you can choose from Dell, Sun and other vendors. Once the hardware is ready, install Windows Server 2003 or 2008 OS on it and if its 2003, run the dcpromo from the Server 2003 CD for the active directory. Once you have done that, setup your dns server. You can set up that on the same hardware. Preferably another server hardware should be used for exchange. Install Windows server 2003 or 2008 on it and then install Microsoft Exchange 2003 or 2007. You may need help doing this. Consult various sites like petri or msexchange.org. You can make a wild google search too. After you add users and mailboxes, you can check for internal mails after you configure Outlook on clients PC's. Meanwhile point your static IP to your mail server in the domain registrar's account. If you plan to host your own webserver you have to point that too. Now in your firewall or router as the case may be make a NAT entry from ur local IP add for the mail server to the public static IP. Although this may sound all complicated, believe me, it isnt. First thing - start now!!!
