      Hi,

This error (8425) means The server is unwilling to process the request. Now if you are running windows server 2000 you can only rename it ifs it’s still configured as a Mixed mode domain. But if its Windows 2003 you should have no problems, well less problems. Heres a link you should find interesting.

Thank you for your help. All the domain controllers are running windows 2003. Domain functional level is windows 2003. The forest level is still windows 2000. My problem is how to upgrade the forest level to windows 2003.
Once again I really appreciate your kind effort.

        Regards,
        Osa

Open AD Domains and Trusts, right click the Domain name underneath and select ‘Raise Domain Functional Level’.

Thank you for your help. The domain forest was raised but the forest level refused to raise itself until the server was rebooted
