Domain scheduled password changes

By butch.young ·
Question?

Does anyone know of a place where I can get written
instructions (white papers) for enforcing end users to
change there passwords every 90 days? I have been tasked
with implementing "User network passwords will be forced
to change every 90 days and require a minimum of eight
characters in length" I?m looking for a little help whereas my
deadline on this project I just received is 20 days away. ;-)

Thanks in advance.

this is all done on the server, the properties of each user. You must manually go into the user settings on your domain and change the properties you need i.e. when password expires, password strength / length, alpha numeric or not...

you also can set it through Domain Group policy
\\computer configuration\windows settings\security settings\account policies\
password policy and account lockout policy

As far as I know you can set all these policies are set in User Manager for Domains. Open User Manager for Domains and select Policies - Account. You will also be able to set minimum password time i.e 30 days so that the user cannot change their password and get it back to the same one if you also set it to keep the password history. We use "remember the last 24 passwords". Other things that can be set are the amount of logon attenpts before lock-out and duration of lockout. Hope this helps
