domain \\server does not exsist

newly installed win2k server, active directory installed, dns installed, dhcp installed.
created computer name (pentium3), created username (user) with password in active directory users and computers.
using a 10mps hub connected the win2k pro andthe win2k server into the hub, on the win2k pro my computer properties, network ID, tried to connect the computer(pentium3) to the domain(server), message says domain does not exsits, unable to connect win2k pro to the domain(win2k server), but i can map the shared drive on the server from the win2k pro.
