Domain & serving name

Can you create an NT Server with the same domain name & same server name, but on different segments? One domain/server would be on the outside of the firewall, so the firewall could actually block the segment address.

Domain & serving name

by Curious_George In reply to Domain & serving name

As long as the two domains do not see each other on the network nor require authentication to resources on each other this is not a problem at all. If the the two domains need to communicate using NT authentication it may still be possible if you use identical accounts with identical passwords and you make sure that they do not connect using any type of name resolution or NetBIOS, but rather only IP (\\ip adress\share) or service based communications. (i.e. FTP, Web, etc.)

Hope this covers your concerns, otherwise include more detail as to what you are trying to do and why.
