Domain to Workgroup Screwup

By lking1172 ·
I have removed a PC from a domain and added it to a workgroup; however, before leaving and restarting the computer I failed to create an account on the PC. Now when I restart the computer I do not have an account that I can logon with. I have tried the administrator account with no password and I am still not able to get into windows. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You will either need to find out what the admin PW is, change it with 3rd party tools, or rebuild the system.

use the domain admin account and password. It should work.[provided that you didn't change the name of the local machine admin account to something different than administrator. If you did, then using the domain admin user name and password won't work.

By default only the administrator is available in workgroup. You can change it using a good password changer program e.g. try ERD from

Yes you will need to use ERD to change the PW for the Administrator Account.
