Domain trust problem

By oisere ·
We have two Windows Server 2003 servers configured as Domain Controllers in their own respective domains. We are trying to establish a trust relationship between Domain1 and Domain2. Domain1 was used to create the trust from my end. The trust was established without problems and has appeared at both ends. When verifying the trust, from my end the trust is verified with no problems. From Domain2, the verification comes back with an Access Denied error.

Both servers are Windows Server 2003 at a similar post-SP1 patch level. The only difference I can see between the two servers is that our AD domain and forest is at Windows Server 2003 functional level while DomainB's AD domain and forest are still set to Mixed-Mode despite there being only Server 2003 boxes in their network.

Could the domain/forest level mismatch be causing a problem or could something else be going on? The trust is a two-way trust established through Active Directory Domains and Trusts with LMHOSTS entries as support.

Any help would be appreciated.
