I’m locked out of my system and wanted to know 1) how to get back in 2)Why am I being asked for a password when I’m pretty sure I never set one up?
Here’s what happened: When I tried to make changes to certain files, I’d get an error message that said I needed to be logged in as the admin (even though I was). So the other night, after much frustration, I went into computer–>manage–>users & groups and disabled the guest accounts and I believe I left the middle box checked in the administrator setting. So when I turned on my pc last night, lo and behold, I’m hit with a ‘enter your password’ prompt. But I don’t have a password! (or I don’t remember ever setting one, I typically turned on my system and I was in)
Can someone help? Most of the answers I found on the net said to try logging in safe mode (didn’t work, I still got the password prompt) or doing a repair install with the xp cd (didn’t work either, cos I was still getting the password prompt).
