I have a Windows XP(SP2) machine running an HP color laserjet 3500 Printer (USB). I am using the NETUSE command to print my DOS program. The print Job goes to the queue however it sits there until you print something from windows. Does anyone have any ideas?

I think its waiting for somesort of form feed command to print the page out. Create a file with the FormFeed cmd (ascii 12) in it and send that to print to force it print out.

I aplogize, I stated my problem incorrectly. Apparently I can print a DOS batch file by printing something else from windows; however my DOS Accounting progrram sends the file to the print queue, but it than leaves the queue immediately. Any thoughts?

Some DOS applications are hard coded to print to printer port LPT1. You may need to configure your printer to use LPT1. You may also need to reinstall the printer and check the box that reads (I need to print from MS-DOS applications)

I've seen the same thing with network printers and local printers on the same PC. If you run "net use /del lpt1" before your DOS program prints it should appear.
I think it's due to the (in my case) network queue holding the lpt1 port open and not releasing it.
