DOS device drivers are installed by adding command lines to either config.sys or autexec.bat

If you are attempting to install a Windows driver from the DOS prompt, you need to know everything that the installer does to install that specific device driver.

Files and locations;
Registry keys;
VXD file creation;
Even lines in the legacy system files.

What you can do, is copy the driver files to a specific folder on the hard drive;
Boot into Windows;
Point the Windows driver wizard to the folder with the driver files.

Keep in mind that MANY driver files are either ZIP or self extracting archives.
The files need to be extracted from the archive before Windows can install the device driver.

I suspect that the answer given by Chas may be too complex for you to understand.

Could you re-state your question in much more detail? You can do this by adding a comment to your original question.

Your question is also incorrectly listed under "Macintosh." It should be posted in the category: "Windows."
