I searched the forums and wasn’t able to find an answer to this question of mine.
I’m running Windows XP SP2 and am running some COBOL programs DOS (Well what XP offers as DOS). They work perfectly but are so slow since every I/O operation attempts to read from the floppy drive.
Even disabling the drive through CMOS doesn’t fix it. Running the program on a Win98 machine takes maybe 1 minute while it takes almost 10 minutes on XP.
I know there is a fix for this for Windows NT Server and workstation but not for XP.

Anyone ever encounter this and know how to fix it for XP?
Thanks!
