downgradin Os on Presario CQ60

I have been trying to downgrade a Compaq Presario CQ60 laptop, which come loaded with windows vista but am not so pleased with vista performance. I have tried to load Xp SP2 with sata drives instead but on installation i get blue screen i wonder what could be the cause. can any one assist please. Thanks

Delete the

Primary Partition normally C: and recreate it. Just be careful what you remove as it could be a Recovery Partition. Have you created your recovery DVD.

Before you started your downgrade project, did you verify that you could find XP version drivers for all of the hardware?

With notebooks in particular, there are not XP version drivers for all of the hardware devices. That is one reason why the manufactures only offer selected notebooks with the XP downgrade factory installed.

I suspect that at least 1 piece of hardware is not playing well with the default XP drivers. Are you sure that you have the correct SATA driver? For that matter, how are you installing the SATA driver?

It would help to know which CQ60 model you have. We could better verify if there are XP drivers available.

Hey Chas, thanks for the responce, with regards to the model nuber, to be precise its a CQ60-110EI.
