Downloading with IE

By santtu ·
Hi,
just wondering if there's anyway to disable
the annoying "feature" in IE, that when I download something rather big, IE first downloads the file into some cache folder, then after download completes, IE copies the file to the folder i chose tosave it in the first place. And please, no replies saying use Netscape :). Thanks in advance, Santtu

well Santtu, i don't believe there is anyway to get it to skip the caching first. IE does that so if the download doesn't complete, you won't have a partial download in your folder and think that it's the whole thing. Well, you could try and use some download managers. the most popular are Getright (www.getright.com) and Go!zilla (www.gozilla.com). both are adware programs. i've used Gozilla a lot and found it pretty useful with pause/resume. Both programs have the same features. but i've only used getright once or twice. i can't remember what it was like. you can try those out. they download straight to the selected folder.

Or just use Netscape...

When you are ready to start the download, IE offers you a choice: "Run this program from its current location" or "Save this program to disk". Make sure you select the latter option and it will ask you which directory you want to download it to. It should download directly there.

Nope, that's not it. I allways do it that way, and uses cache folder, smaller files go directly, but, lets say 50meg files goto cache 1st. Thank's anyway.
