can i download Office 2010 on a Acer Aspire 255 series notebook-if not, what can i download that comparable?

If you have a normal OS on the netbook, then why not.

But, before paying for MS Office, you can have a look at
It will, basically do the same, but at a much better price.

OpenOffice was recently split into two groups. So in a couple of months, you may want to check what's happening to the fork LibreOffice.

if it doesn't then you can't use MSO-2010

see here for requirements:

whether or not you can DL is dependent on your ISP and connection

my connection is horrible and can never complete a DL of anything larger than a few MB
