IPCheck Server monitor, can be set up to notify you by email and by text message to your cellphone, and the application is not to costly.

Downtime alerts

Hey,

Your best bet for downtime alerts and notifications is to sign up for an alerts service. I personally HIGHLY recommend Downtime Preventer (http://www.downtimepreventer.com) - they offer free alerts by email and alerts via SMS for a very low fee, they're the cheapest I've found. They're also very reliable and approachable.

You'll find you need an external resource like Downtime Preventer in order to help prevent downtime and receive alerts. You obviously can't install things on your own server as if it's down, it can't alert you!

Hope this helps :)
