DR plan tracking system?

By ssfpridav ·
Does anyone know of any software (hopefully web-based) that would assist in storing, updating, and managing disaster recovery plans for servers, services, and other resources (power, printers, etc.). Excel just doesn't have the capabilities to meet our needs anymore.

I think Visio 2003 could do the job for you.

In our case, the DR plan began with a drawing. The drawing was populated with the information you've identified in your post. As you do this you find yourself including more information as well, such as serial numbers which could help with Insurance Companies for instance. At any rate, it's easily updated and has the advantage of being WEB enabled (Not Based) so we just simply save the WEB page to a server. We continue to print the drawings and put them in binders to be taken off-site by those who may need to support the DR Plan.

***A Bonus***

When we started out, this was just going to be a DR type project (but) have found it to invaluable for other things such as asset management and capacity planning not the least of which could include changing cooling or power requirements of the Server Rooms.
