Dr. Watson error

By don_pham ·
Hi, I have a user is using MS Acess 97. He gets Dr. Watson come up all the time when he opens the Access database. Even sometime that he got through but first couple minutes when he's working in the table then Dr. Watson pops up again. I have tried to reinstalled MS Access but it does not help. Dr. Watson said: Exception access violation (0xc0000005), address 0x0b336784 or (varies). Any idea???? Thanks in advanced!

Is the database located on users local drive or a network drive? It Could Be an File access or disk space issue.

Will the database run on someone elses PC?

Have you packed the database recently? This could help alot.

How much memory and free diskspace does the PC have? How much virtual memory? It might be a memory issue.

Try reinstalling with all options for MS Access. However, I would not choose any Java options.

Good luck...
G

Hi, don_pham,

You can have more information about your problem looking at the Dr. Watson log file (DRWATSON.LOG). This file normally have a detailed description of your error that you can use to solve it (or just to sendo more details to this forum :-).

There is a commented log file at the following address: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q81/1/42.ASP
It can help you to understand a little more this file.

Good luck,
Gilberto

I too have encountered this problem. Log on as yourself and open the Access Database. If it opens with no problems, re-create the clients machine profile. Rename is old profile to old(User Name)(logged on as an admin), log off the machine and log on as him. A new profile will be created. Test Access again to see if it works.

Hope this helps you out.
