Suggest run fdisk only,do not format or attempt cdrom driver. Ensure computer is set in BIOS to boot from CDROM .Insert Windows ME and switch on machine.System should autoinstall. Check memory/cpu min requirements

You autoexec on the floppy should have the line: MSCDEX /D:MSCD001 /V

Your config.sys n the floppy, should have the line: DEVICE=A:\VIDE-CDD.SYS /D:MSCD001

Of coarse you want the vide file and mscdex file on the floppy. A common mistake I've seen people do is run the express setup, which defaults to C

You may want to unplug your CD-Writer so that isn't detected. IF you need these, write me an email and I'll zip them up and mail them to you, but from you described, this just sounds like you don't have the drivers setup right.

You will have to load the MSCDEX.exe file in C:\Root Directory
Load realmode CD-ROM driver in Config.sys and MSCDEX driver in the Autoexec.bat by typing in sysedit and locating the above.
You can then try looking at microsoft knowledge base article Q135174,from another computer.

go to control panel add/remove programs, choose to startupdisk, it should copy all needed files toa diskette and startup your computer and load cdrom drivers automatically
P.S. if you have a WinME UPgrade then it will ask for win98 operatingsystem,to go around that , you need to copy the files from win98 directory in 98 CD to a temp folder then when winme ask you for win98, just point it to that directory
