Driver.cab

Is there any practical use for the Driver.cab file locate in Windows\Driver Ccache\I386 folder?

All Windows Cabinet files (.cab) are similar to Zip archives.

Drivers.cab contains default hardware drivers for the installed version of Windows.

If you install new hardware such as USB flash drives, Windows gets the driver file from the drivers.cab file.

If you plan to NEVER install another piece of hardware on the system, then you don't need drivers.cab

Without drivers.cab on the hard drive, you will need the Windows CD every time you install hardware.
