General discussion

By galehickey2 ·
I purchased a program that would backup my drivers. After looking at the backups they are simply .inf files. When I go into Device Manager a given device has everything from .sys to .vxd to .dll files. Do I save these files and then use them in conjunction with the BackUp program? I had to reinstall once and the drivers were something else-no fun. Thanks.

You should be able to use notepad or word-pad to view the .inf files.

Any file referenced by the inf file should be part of the backup.

As should the registry keys for the devices.

I would start by contacting the software company and see what they have to say.
Perhaps there is an additional archive file that you are not seeing.
