What model is the camera, what is the Operating system of the PC. What is the name of the program that won't run?

It's hard for us to assist without details...like the kind of camera, the OS you use, etc.

Without that info, I'd recommend:

disconnect the camera and uninstall the software
doublecheck your installation instructions
follow those instructions (probably connecting the camera and rebooting your machine)
go through the installation process carefully.
note any errors or problems you encounter during the install
If it does not work after that, check the manufacturer's website for patches or troubleshooting help.
If you're still having trouble, update your question here including all the details you can (specifically the camera, OS, interface - USB or serial, any problems in the install, what software you're running and what error you get.

Hope this helps! Good luck...

Assuming the camera is USB, did you install the drivers/software prior to plugging in the camera for the first time? If not, uninstall all the camera software/drivers and restart. Then reinstall the software, shutdown, plug in the camera and restart. Hopefully the camera will be detected and your problem solved.
