Drives have disappeared in My computer

By qb4006 ·
I have a windows 2000 workstation that has lost all drives in my computer - Its like they are invisible. Also in windows explorer all folders/files on the right side of the screen don't show up. If I click on any folder listed on the left side, the contents that usually show on the right side are invisible. This PC caught some kind on trojan and virus and i noticed this after the infection. Any suggestions to fix this?? I already ran the virus scan, trojan hunter and spybot which removed the infected files and trojans.

Run the housecall app from http://housecall.trendmicro.com

If this does not detect any current infections...
You will need to reinstall the OS. You probably don't need to kill everything, just layer it over top to keep your programs and settings.

You could first try booting from the w2k cd and attempt a repair. If that doesn't work then I would agree that a reinstall over the top of the existing istallation should do the trick (unless you want to do a completely fresh install).

Cheers.
