Drops Logon

By trogers ·
I have a client who has installed a Windows 2000 server (SP4) running as a domain controller. On the LAN they have Windows 98 SE clients that sign into the domain. At different times the clients will lose connections to the server as well as to the network. If they go to network neighborhood , all that shows is entire network. If they type in the URL \\ibm_srv , it will not find the server or any of the clients this way as well. If they reboot or log off the server and clients will appear in the network neighborhood as well as URL name.

Sounds like either DHCP lease or server connection is timing out. Check settings for users in active directory and, if using DHCP, the DHCP connection time in server or router DHCP settings.
